Thankful for the Senior Market

Author: Chris Hagerstrom

Pat sells widgets.  Pat’s really good at selling widgets.  But Pat’s worried as there are fewer and fewer people who need a widget that haven’t already bought one from Pat.  Pat’s worried about the shrinking widget market, or worse, what if another company comes up with a much better widget than Pat’s?

Thanksgiving happens in the middle of the Annual Enrollment Period and it’s a quiet blessing.  We become laser-focused on writing as much business as we can during AEP, and it’s nice to have Turkey Day interrupt the chaos and bring us back down to earth.  It gives us a chance to forget about copays and networks and formularies and SOA forms (ugh those SOA forms) and reconnect with the people that motivate our success, our family.  But I’m still worried about Pat.

What if our widget market was shrinking right before our eyes?  What if we only had one widget to sell?

Luckily, we can all be thankful for the wonderful opportunity that is the Senior Market.  From the 59+ million current Medicare beneficiaries to the 10,000 that are aging in each day, our market is ever growing.  From the abundance of widgets we can offer to the flexibility of finding just the right widget for our clients – we love competition and the innovation it brings.  From the satisfaction of helping our customers to the peace of mind we bring to their families, the service we provide is priceless.  I think we can all agree we have a lot to be thankful for.

And let’s be thankful this year’s AEP isn’t over just yet, and there’s a lot of people that still need a good widget.
